Catch the wave...

Thomas has learned some new tricks in the last few days - including waving hello! We haven't gotten to bye-bye yet. He can also clap when the mood strikes him and has been known to get from his tummy up to sitting, but definitely not on command!

We had a great time in NYC yesterday! The drive down wasn't too bad and we managed to find a great parking place on the street near Central Park really quickly. We walked through the park and then went to the Metropolitan Museum of Art where we spent several hours - it is a huge place! We will have to go back sometime to see the rest.

Afterwards we walked down 5th Avenue to Times Square and people watched, and then back up Broadway to the park. We bought some groceries for the ride home at Zabars which is apparently a New York institution (and really really crowded on a Saturday evening).

Thomas is a great traveller, he took several naps in his stroller and seemed to enjoy the new sights and sounds! We're going to try taking the train down next time and see how it goes, it would be nice to find an affordable hotel close by so we could make more of a weekend out of it.

We've posted some photos on our new website, www.nygustafson.com/photos, which is where we will host our photos.

Peebles Island

Steve had the afternoon off today so we went to Peebles Island State Park for a walk. Thomas did really well and even managed a little nap in the gerry carrier! Afterwards for ice cream and a visit to the library.

We're going down to NYC tomorrow to spend the day, we hope it is a successful trip so we can go often!

Sleepy boy

We've been spending so much time in the car lately, Thomas has developed some new car seat sleeping techniques. Sometimes these involve bending over at the waist! Usually I can catch him as he's nodding off and stick a blankie under his head as a kind of 'pillow'. It will be nice we we can finally turn him around in his car seat!

Happy Easter

What a great weekend! We spent Saturday morning walking around the Stockade historic district in Schnectady, and had lunch at cafe 1795. We'll be sure to take our next visitors here - it was delicious. Thomas endured his buggy ride over the bumpy slate sidewalks very well!

Sunday morning Thomas inspected the Easter bunny's offerings and we had a cooked breakfast. We went to Easter service and then went down to the Crossing of Colonie, a nice park with lots of paved trails for walking, biking etc. There is also a neat playground and Steve and Thomas spent some time checking out the swings.

We're really appreciating the good weather we've been having! It's been in the 60s and 70s all last week and we try to get outside every day. Steve and Thomas went and bought a basketball this weekend so they can start practicing their 'skills'.
