Spring

We have a small tree in the backyard, which we are told is a magnolia. We don't really like it, it's not in the best place, is leaning a little bit, and has lost at least one of its trunks. We've talked about digging it up several times.

But once a year, every spring, it does this:

And then we decide that it's not too bad after all.

Trike/Bike Riding

Steve and Thomas have been having a lot of fun riding up and down the street every night. Steve has been riding into work too now that the weather has been so nice!

Room redecorating

Now that the boys are sharing a room, we have started thinking about redecorating and making it a fun place for them both to play and sleep. These new shelves will store clothes and toys. Next up, painting and new window shades!

Andrew is pulling up on everything and has discovered the push toys. He can get all the way across the room with this one if he is motivated enough!

Weekend

We've had a nice weekend so far, with some decent weather (it hit 70 yesterday!), a trip to the park, a walk in the buggy, and lots of playtime.

Andrew has firmly moved onto finger foods, preferring to feed himself rather than wait for the spoon to arrive. So how he got quite so messy, I'm not sure!

He's also become very talkative, and has added two new words to his repertoire, 'Andrew' and 'Hiya' (accompanied by a raised hand). He had his 9 month check up this week and remains in the 95% height and 25% weight categories.

Nap time

Andrew has been sleeping in our room since he was born. At our apartment in Naples, the owner set up both boys cribs in the same room, so we decided to try it and see how things went. The whole week of room-sharing went pretty well, so when we got back home we quickly moved Andrew's crib into Thomas' room so they could continue being roommates. They're still doing okay, but have woken us up a few nights in a row at 3am, giggling and chatting. Here they are at today's naptime. Do they look sleepy to you? Steve and I miss having Andrew so close by, it's just one more sign that our baby is growing up!

Bella Napoli

We had a fantastic trip to Italy! We spent 10 days in the Naples area, with two day trips to the islands of Capri and Procida and a visit to the archaelogical site of Ercolano which was buried by the same volanic eruption as Pompeii.

The ferry trips to the islands were a big highlight for us and the kids, and the scenery especially on Capri was breathtaking. We also visited the town and bar on Procida where the film 'Il Postino' was filmed.

Steve's conference in Naples went very well, and he was pleased to be asked to be the conference co-chair for next year's EuroGP conference in Germany. Both boys have shown themselves to be good travellers, so we will look forward to more trips!
