Andrew's 1st birthday!

Andrew had a wonderful 1st birthday! He started off with a breakfast of some of his favorite things, bacon and eggs. Steve came home early after nap time and we opened presents. He got some great gifts and cards and he loved them! After a long walk, we had dinner and cake which he enjoyed immensely as you will see in the photos. He capped off the day with a nice long bath!

Check out the photo album!

Baseball game

We had a great time watching the Tri City Valleycats baseball game last night! It was our first live game since we lived in KC many summers ago. The stadium was nice and had a kids play area where Thomas spent quite a bit of time. He also won a lollipop which he was nice enough to share with Andrew.

The Valleycats ended up losing 6-7, but we had to leave early anyway to put two tired out boys to bed.

Walking video

We finally managed to capture Andrew walking on video. Every day he is gaining more confidence. This morning he performed the difficult manuever of walking to a toy, stooping to pick it up, and standing up again. We are proud as you can tell!

The video also shows Thomas' prowess on the bike. He's asked us several times to remove the training wheels but we're resisting so far since he needs them for a successful dismount.

Morning on the farm

We took a trip to Indian Ladder farm in Altamont with the moms group this morning to see the new baby animals. We saw a baby piglet, cow, rabbits, goats, several ducks, chicks, and turkeys! Steve was able to take the morning off work to join us. Here are some photos of Thomas petting the animals, and our picnic lunch afterwards.

Father's Day

We celebrated Steve today with a big French toast blowout for breakfast, and a picnic lunch this afternoon. Afterwards we took a trip to a local swim club to break in the new swimsuits (and tire everyone out for nap time!) He has to work tonight, but next weekend we will go to a local minor league baseball game to extend the celebrations.

Happy Father's Day to everyone!

House Work

Poor Steve, the next round of home improvement projects has begun with the painting of the dining room! Next up, the living room and new doors. I'll post before and after photos when it's all complete. When the work time is confined to periods when both parents are home and both children are sleeping, these little jobs take a lot longer!

Kiddie Pool

Summer is finally here with temperatures in the 90s expected for this week. That's hot by NY standards! I filled up the pool for Thomas to get into after nap time yesterday, but Andrew decided to have a turn, too, and literally dived in fully clothed before I could stop him. Next time I'll put a swim diaper on him before letting him loose. He had a great time though, and had to be dragged out.

Day out in Saratoga

We took the boys up to Saratoga on Sunday to spend some time playing in the park, feeding ducks, and riding the 100+ year old carousel. Thomas even got his finger nipped by a baby duck! Racing season will start soon and the whole area will be far too crowded to visit.
