Labor Day weekend

We've had a very relaxing long weekend so far, a BBQ with neighbors, meeting friends at a park, and our own backyard BBQ. What a treat to have three days off! Tommorrow we will do a little shopping and then more playing in the yard.

LA photos

Our week-long trip to LA went by in a flash! We spent 6 nights in Universal City where Steve attended 4 days of meetings, and spent time touring nearby Citywalk at Universal Studios with both the Hubbards and the CA Gustafsons. We also took some jaunts to Venice Beach, up to Valencia to attend Katie's music class, and to Glendale mall with Katie and Ashton. The Hubbards went out of their way to ferry us around and entertain us while Steve was working.

Afterwards we spent two nights in Agoura Hills with the CA Gustafsons and went to both the LA Zoo and Malibu. The boys enjoyed playing with their cousin's toys and in their pool! We had some great dinners around the BBQ and lunches by the pool. I think we like California Life! Photos from the trip are up in the Photo Gallery.

Back from LA

And tired out! Thomas tried his hand at napping on the seats at Phoenix airport during a layover. We had a fantastic time. More photos to come.

Vegetables

We haven't gotten up to too much lately, having just recovered from a bout of miserable summer colds. I think we're finally better, just in time for a trip to LA!

So because we haven't felt up to it, we haven't been taking many pictures lately. I'm feeling the pressure to post, but all I have are some photos of tonight's dinner, featuring the bulk of this week's vegetables from our CSA. This year we bought a local farm share (which we are splitting with some neighbors), and for 25 weeks we pick up a weekly 'share' of the harvest. To use up the veggies before our trip, I made baba ganouj and fiesta salsa, the leftovers of which will be frozen. The CSA is a great way to get local organic produce at reasonable prices.

Ball Game

We attended another Valleycats game this week, thanks to GE who sponsored the night. Thomas even got to watch the players signing autographs before the game. We had a great dinner at the ballpark which is now a favorite of Steve's as they have Browns on tap.

Sprinkler time

We've been spending most afternoons in the backyard enjoying the kiddie pool and sprinkler. There was a brief rain shower the other day and the boys thought it was so funny to be playing in it.
