Recent works

A new photo studio in the mall dragged us in the other day to do some 'test shots' and get a free photo, which is shown above. If I'd known the boys were going to be photographed I'd have dressed them differently! They were good sports about it though.

Painting is one of Thomas' favorite things to do at nursery school during the free play time. Everyday he brings home several masterpieces. Here is one from last week, stamping using various kitchen utensils. He's really enjoying school and his teacher, Mrs. Holmes.

In the Yard

The boys ran off some energy outside yesterday before heading to the Ramadan dinner at GE. This was our 3rd Ramadan dinner at the GRC in as many years and is something we look forward to - the food is fantastic!

Andrew is trying to learn to ride Thomas' scooter, it won't be long before he's kicking off!

Block Party

This weekend was our annual block party, and the rain stayed away long enough for us to have a nice BBQ and copious amounts of baked goods with our neighbors. The boys had a great time playing with their friends and riding bikes up and down the driveways.

Tonight we went out to dinner and then to the park to burn off a little steam before bedtime.

Thomas the Preschooler!

Thomas had his first day of preschool this morning! They had half of the class come in at a time with their parents for an hour's worth of playtime followed by snack. Next week is the real deal, with the parents dropping off. This is a co-op preschool, so each parent takes a turn providing snack and helping in the class room. My turn comes on Thursday.

Fall activities

Our fall schedule is quickly filling up! Here is a photo of the boys and I at the local moms group fall kick off party yesterday. Some of the things I have agreed to do this year (probably unwisely) are to be on the board of Thomas' preschool and Silent Auction co-chair and be a classroom helper, to be on the board of the Niskayuna moms group and chair of the welcoming committee (and also Snack co-chair, don't laugh it's an actual job), as well as the not so little task of deciding on a topic for my Masters thesis and completing that.

Painting

Here are Steve and the boys enjoying a little Sunday afternoon football post-nap. In the background you can see evidence of how Steve and I have been spending our evenings this last week after the boys are in bed - painting! It is amazing how much a coat of paint can change a room. Next stop, curtains.
