Thanksgiving Weekend

This has been a busy weekend! Wednesday we celebrated Kristin's birthday with roses and chocolate cake. Thomas made the great dried flower centerpiece at nursery school. We spent Thanksgiving day with neighbors and enjoyed the celebration without all the dirty dishes!

Friday afternoon Steve picked out our tree and we've been having fun decorating the house for Christmas. The boys love the tree and the ornaments are slowly migrating down to their height. Thomas and Kristin decorated sugar cookies today and tonight Steve and Kristin will have dinner out at PF Changs (thanks Dad and Suzanne). We love extended weekends!!

We also attempted to take a family photo for the Christmas card - this was our best take. We'll keep trying.

Cold morning at the park

We braved the cold this morning to visit our favorite new park. Hats and gloves required for the 40 degree temps and brisk wind! It was a brief visit but still enjoyable.

Hockey night

Steve and Thomas went to a Union College hockey game last night with some other dads and kids from one of our playgroups. They had a great time and Thomas especially liked the popcorn. Andrew and I met up with the other moms at a cafe in Schenectady for an early dinner. It was a fun evening out!

Journey to Palomar

This week, PBS will be broadcasting a film about the origins of the telescope called 'the Journey to Palomar'. A few months ago, Steve was contacted by one of the producers of the film, who wanted to use one of his photographs in the film. The photograph was taken in the Parthenon in Rome, during a visit with Dad and Suzanne in summer 2004. The film should be shown on PBS sometime this week if you are interested.

Trick or Treat

Hope everyone had a Happy Halloween! Thomas and Andrew had a fun time walking up and down our block before dinner (while still light out!) and showing off their costumes to the neighbors. Thomas did great honing his trick-or-treating skills, and also enjoyed handing out candy to the bigger kids who came by our house later. It was a beautiful evening for it, no coats required!
