Philip and Samuel were born on today at 2:18pm, about 1 minute apart. Both were 18in long, Philip was 6lb11oz and Samuel was 6lb2oz. Kristin did great, and we are so happy to have everyone recovering well! Both have quite a bit of hair. Nana, Thomas and Andrew made a visit. Andrew thinks we may be hiding another one somewhere, but both boys are excited to have new baby brothers! Dad got to rock Samuel for the first time before saying goodnight after he was swaddled. Here are a few pictures - more coming.

My friends threw me a surprise baby shower last weekend - what a fun time! Karen was able to come too and was in on the surprise. We got some very nice things for the boys!

The Easter bunny came to the NYGustafson house! Here are some photos of the events, including: Dyeing Easter eggs (our first attempt at doing this at home - and we only dropped a few!), Easter baskets - with a few special treats for Steve, and the Easter egg hunt in the backyard, and a short movie where Kristin's huge tummy makes an appearance!

32 Weeks

These photos are getting scarier and scarier! I celebrated the 32 week milestone with my last day of work, and am looking forward to having more time at home to rest and get ready for our new arrivals.

Our next doctor appointment is next week, and if there are any changes we'll be sure to put the word out. Just don't ask me how I'm feeling - you'll get an earful! :)

Andrew has started the long process of learning to use the potty! Here he is proudly modelling his Elmo pants. It's a work in progress for sure. Good thing he has a big brother to show him the way!

We manage to fill our weekends by accomplishing so little! We've got a long list of to-dos before these babies arrive in 7-9 weeks (hopefully no longer!) We went to a birthday party for one of Andrew's friends, and the host snapped our photo while watching the kids play. Are here are our very own superheros!

The weeks are really flying by! Here we are at 28 weeks. The babies are weighing in at around 3lbs each. Everything is going well so far, and we're counting the days until Nana and Papa arrive.

Feb update

I've been slow to post here lately, but I've been slow everywhere else so what's new? Here's what we've been up to.

Snow! We got out first snow day of 2010 last week, cancelling school for Thomas. After lunch, the roads had improved enough to take the boys to the sitters so Kristin and Steve could get a little work done from home. This has been a mild winter so far, and although the rest of the country is anticipating spring, we may have a few weeks yet of flurries and cold temps. Here are the boys enjoying more recent snowfall over the weekend. They built a cave with some neighborhood friends in a drift as high as the truck behind!

Thomas takes out our old camera every now and then, are usually ends up with quite a few interesting shots! Here is his latest take on the happenings around the house.

I visit the doctor again this Friday, and will hopefully have more photos and news of the babies to share.

We had a great visit with Dad, who survived the cold weather in NY! We took him to the family dinner at Thomas' school, on a road trip to Syracuse, and many trips to the mall and restaurants. Thanks for coming out Dad!

New Ride

We found a great deal on a used mini-van, and traded in the RAV. The new car is great, and certainly has lots of room for a large family! It's a 2009 Toyota Sienna, and seats 8.

Here we are saying goodbye to the RAV, the new van, and it's first road trip to the children's museum in Syracuse with Dad.

Here's the things we've been up to lately!

Andrew moved into his big boy bed last weekend, and after a rough start, seems to understand now that we stay in our bed, and not get up and play as soon as mom and dad leave the room. Our baby is growing up!

Steve has been our head chef these days, especially at dinnertime as he picks up the boys at the sitters around 5pm, and I usually don't get home until 5:30 or so. But that doesn't mean he's on his own, sometimes he employs a few sous chefs! Here is the scene I walked into tonight on pizza night.

We found out this morning that we are expecting twin boys! They are in great shape, with perfect anatomy and identical weights (11oz). They are both head down, one right on top of the other in identical positions. Everything appears to be going perfectly so far!

The lower twin was a bit camera shy, with an arm thrown over his face for most of the session. Their heads are fairly close together so he kept getting his face blocked and we couldn't get a perfect shot - but we can see enough to tell that they look very similar!

We are very excited about our house full of boys, and Thomas and Andrew can't wait to meet their little brothers!

Christmas recap

We had a great trip to KS for the holidays, and since our return have been swept up in the return to school, work, laundry, and making our own meals and cleaning up after ourselves again!

We spent a fun week at the Gustafsons house, and got to go ice skating twice, as well as spending time with the Honas family and Grandma Bonnie, eating great meals, and celebrating Christmas. We also spent two nights at the lake house with the DeWeeses and Siscos, ringing in the New Year and also enjoying fantastic food.

Holiday Warmups

We've been busy with the build up to the holidays, and getting ready for the big trip to KS. Here is Thomas posing with the advent calendar, which both boys are excited about taking turns picking an ornament each day.

Thomas made a gingerbread house in school this week, and we all had fun taking it apart to sample it!

Today we visited the annual train display at the local museum, which captivated us all for awhile before naptime.

We'll post again in the new year!

Snow Day!

The white stuff has arrived! Goodbye grass, see you again in May. We celebrated the arrival of winter with 8 inches overnight, which cancelled both school for the boys and work for Steve and Kristin.

We had a fun day off, spending lots of time playing outside, shoveling, going for sled walks, baking and playing inside, and watching movies.

Andrew entertained us with some caroling while we were coloring and waiting for lunch. You might have to turn the sound up to get the full experience.

We celebrated the first real snow of the season this weekend with a snowball fight, followed by snowflake cakes and a nice warm bath.
